Posts filed under 'Great Linking Tips'
A link is the address of a web page which is maintained on a
page which allows you to jump to the new web page. One of the
great things about HTML and the world wide web is this ability
to link sites together. This results in the internet truly
becoming a web, and the benefits to the surfer are tremendous.
It is normal for virtually every site on the web to maintain a
list of links to “favorite”, “featured” or “special” places to
visit. This is almost never done with permission, nor does it
need to be.
Remember that we are discussing linking to pages on other web
sites, not graphics, zip files, sound files or anything else.
Only HTML-style pages are acceptable for cross-linking. Linking
to other types of media files is called bandwidth stealing and
is highly unethical. Also remember, do not link to other
people’s CGI routines without permission.
There is some concern over the acceptableness of this linking
behavior. Some commercial sites are not happy with linking
because it bypasses their “home page” or sidesteps their
advertising. There is even some discussion that linking is a
trademark infringement or violates some other sacred rights.
This is all silly talk by people and organizations who
completely misunderstand the nature of the world wide web. The
best practice of everyone creating a site is to complete ignore
this asinine discussion totally and to link vigorously and
constantly.
In my opinion the best way to think of linking is to associate
it with the “fair use” laws. These are the laws which allow
people to include short quotes from published and copyrighted
works in their own materials. This is not illegal or unethical -
in fact it is absolutely necessary. Imagine how difficult it
would be for a college student to write a term paper if he could
not quote authors, or how impossible it would be for a critic to
do his job if he could not include a few lines from the work he
was writing about.
Fair use is something that comes under attack by dimwits
sometimes. It is essential that we, the people, constantly use
the fair use laws, as if they become unused then they will
become illegal. We must defend our rights to quote and “borrow”
snippets from other sources.
Note, however, you should follow some guidelines when linking.
- Keep your links simple. Fair use allows small quotes, and as
long as you keep things short you should be fine. If you start
including complex graphics or long passages of text then you are
putting yourself at risk as well as possibly plagiarizing.
- Get permission where possible or feasible. This can work to
your advantage, as you can do a “link exchange” which has many
uses (more links to your site means a higher popularity by
search engines).
- Include a section of your own which explains to your visitors
that you have no control over external links You think they
might be of interest, but you don’t have any responsibility for
their content.
- Again, only link to HTML and text style pages. Do not link to
multimedia files (images, sounds and videos).
- Also, remember to not link to CGI routines (and other
executable objects) without permission.
When you are designing your own site, it’s a great idea to be
sure that you understand that people will be bookmarking and
linking to any and every page that you’ve got. Search engines
also are notorious for sending visitors willy-nilly to whatever
page they believe fits a search topic. Thus, your navigation and
overall design must allow visitors to move around freely on your
site regardless of which page they land upon.
The bottom line is simple. People can link to any page they want
to within your site (just as they can bookmark anything at
will). Those webmasters who moan about this practice or make
attempts to stop it are wasting their time and have little
understanding of how the internet really works. Those who plan
their website around the concept will create a better experience
for their visitors, gain more traffic and thus better achieve
their goals.

Tea in America grew in popularity by leaps and bounds after World War II. Prior to that, Americans consumed mainly Chinese Green and Oolong tea. However, during the Second World War, they had to rely on the British for tea and hence they started consuming only Black tea which was brought in by the British from India. Today, it is served at most places as an alternative to coffee. A preparation of tea very popular in America is iced tea, which is tea served chilled. In fact nearly eighty percent of tea consumption in America is iced tea.
Besides these, tea consumption has also grown quite popular in places like Germany and Portugal. Portugal was the first country to introduce tea drinking in Europe. Ta is currently found in Portugal as Gorreana. Germans serve strong Black tea with cream and believe it can cure headaches and stomach ailments. Tea traditions in the western world are certainly not as exotic as in the Orient, but they do have their own little romanticism associated with them.

The do-follow, or I-follow, movement has caused a resurge of blogs without the ‘nofollow’ link attribute applied to all comments. Since being introduced in 2005 by Google, the nofollow attribute is now added by default to any reader submitted links on many popular blog platforms. Removing the attribute is advocated by many bloggers.
Nofollow
Google introduced the nofollow attribute in 2005 to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results, and reducing spam in general. It was designed by Matt Cutts and Jason Shellen from Blogger.com webspam team. Its effect was described to remove the PageRank value of the link.
Different search engines treat links with nofollow differently. Google does not count the link as a vote, or index the target page if previously not indexed. Officially Google does not even make a note of the existence of the target page. Yahoo! follows the link, and may index the page, but the link won’t give more value to the target. Other search engines may, or may not care about the attribute at all.
Some links have been tagged nofollow in Wikimedia software since the introduction in 2005, but site wide adding of nofollow to all external links in the English language Wikipedia happened only in January 2007. Blogger included the attribute in comments and backlinks from early on. It was included by default in Wordpress comments from version 1.5 forward.
Do-Follow
Lately, especially after the introduction of nofollow to Wikipedia, nofollow has begun to be seen also as a negative thing. On blogs, commenting on other blogs has always been a way to market one’s own blog, and after the introduction of nofollow, this has been less effective. Some bloggers claim that they now see a higher amount of spam comments, allegedly because to get the same effect spammers need to spam more.
Before nofollow those who comment regularly on a blog would also get many backlinks for free. Now that most blogs are nofollow, there is less reason to become a regular, or to comment at all. The do-follow movement consists of bloggers, who wish to reward, and encourage commenting by giving back comments their backlink value.
How to Join
On Wordpress blogs there are many plugins for removing the attribute. Some plugins offer extra features, like nofollow for first time comments, or nofollow for old comments. The customizable nature of Wordpress templates, and plugins has brought many solutions to this problem. The most popular of the plugins can be found with a Google search for ‘do-follow Wordpress’.
If you have a Blogger blog, making it do-follow is as easy as removing each occurrence of “rel=’nofollow’” in the template. The template can be modified from ‘Blogger Dashboard’, under ‘Template’ - ‘Edit HTML’. The ‘Expand Widget Templates’ checkbox has to be checked to see the posts section of the code.
After you have removed nofollow from your blog comments, remember to tell it to your readers. When they know they are rewarded for their commenting, they are more likely to share their thoughts. They might even bookmark your blog, and return again. All this simply because you can make them fell their opinions are valued.

Get 50 relevant one way links
Link Building is an integral part of any effective search engine optimising strategy. Link building services are designed to establish and improve your website’s link popularity.
The first consideration you have to make in your link-building efforts is who should be linking to you and whom you should link to. These are two separate considerations and despite that fact that you will be working on both at the same time, they must be considered independently.

W3C XHTML is a great idea - making everything work on everyones Browser, however when trying to get complicated homepages to validate properly - it can be a pain. You enter your homepage - say www.rankrace.com But w3C markup doesnt allow some things that make older browsers function properly - e.g. pre css terms used to make old browsers show the website properly!
Examples: <Table background=”an_image.jpg”>
This wouldnt be allowed under W3C Markup - but if you just use the css (Background-Image) then older versions on Internet Explorer (IE) and Netscape (NS) would not show the background image.
Simarlarly annoying about W3C is the fact you cannot spread a form over a table - so if you dont have all your form items within the same <td> then w3c crys about it!!!!!
W3C xhtml markup validator is realised as a useful tool for SEO’ and general webmasters/designers. But if used as the end-all bee’s knees of markup validation then you may be blocking out 1/3 of the hits to your site - waste all that difficultly generated traffic so easily?????? W3C = great in moderation but don’t waste all your organic and referal generated traffic living up to its godly standards.

Today, the king of SEO (search engine optimization) is link building. But that doesn’t mean building every link you find available on top of each other until your link count passes your rivals. You need to be careful and selective in this link collecting business. It doesn’t always mean that “the site with more link number, will rank higher than the one with less links.” More links will almost always help you rank higher in search engines like Google, but in order to have these links counted on your behalf, you have to take care that:
1. these links come from a good neighborhood,
2. come from relevant pages,
3. not come from pages that have links going to bad neighborhoods,
4. have a varied anchor text,
5. come from pages with the same language,

It’s been over a year now that I had my Google Adsense account opened. Last summer these days, I was busy getting frustrated because, whatever Adsense optimization I tried, I couldn’t earn more than 4-5 dollars a month. I was slowly losing hope that I would ever see my first 100 dollar check.
But now I see that Adsense doesn’t work that way. Earning a few hundred dollars a month right from the beginning, is actually a miracle which happens to the very lucky few, or people who already have very high trafficked sites. It went quite gradually for me. Each month I earned more than the month before, and after I received my first hard-earned check last january, everything became much easier. Now, I can see that it really isn’t that hard to recieve a check from Adsense each month, but you have to:
1. Be patient. Only the lucky few start earning hundreds of dollars from the beginning in this business or those who already have very high trafficked sites. Many of us, after being accepted by Google, start putting the Adsense codes on each and every site we build and then we complain because of the little money we earn. Google as a general rule, trusts older sites much more than new sites, and when its about Adsense, you’ll notice that the older your site gets, you’ll start getting more valuble ads.
2. Definitely start using the channels. The most important thing about Adsense, is that you should test, test, and test until you start getting satisfactory results. And to do this you should be using the channels service Google provides with Adsense. You can give a different name to each and every ad on your each and every page and trace them with these channels. And don’t say “enough” to your tests and tweaks until you get your Clickthrough Rate to something near at least 10 %. This isn’t so hard to reach, so don’t stop and watch your earnings while your Clickthrough Rate is something like 3 or 4 %. This means you are leaving more than half of the money you can earn on the table.
3. Practice search engine optimization (SEO). Without traffic there won’t be any Adsense clicks. So in order to increase your traffic you have to make your site or blog more visible to search engine users. The ultimate road to high Google rankings pass from good link building strategies (as is written in this “zonenoktaorg seo” post) and plenty of original content.

On the internet there are typically 3 real ways to make decent money: AdSense(through google), YPN (through yahoo), affiliate marketing (clickbank, commission junction, or azoogle ads), or creating your very own product.
1 - Pay Per Click:
Text ads such as Google Adsense, Yahoo!, Kontera, and so on are a great way to supplement your income stream from your website. If you have a large reading base, or tend to have massive amounts of traffic to your site, implementing Adsense, or Yahoo! Publishing may be a great source of income for you.
Although no one should bank on these as their main income stream. Google or Yahoo! can change their terms of service in a heart beat, and your revenue could plummet. So make sure you’re checking all of your options before you use this technique as your main source of income.
2 - Affiliate Marketing:
Another popular, and higher paying source of online income from your site is by becoming an affiliate and promoting other peoples’ products on your website. This is a great way to make a little extra money with your site, as you don’t have to put a lot of effort into creating a product.
Although, you must “pre-sell” the user on the product to make them click the affiliate link. Although this may seem difficult, there are many ways to do this with ease.
Two very popular affiliate programs are:
Clickbank
Commission Junction
There are others, so make sure you look around and find out what service best fits your needs.
3 - Product Creation:
Product creation is one of the most effective ways of building a revenue stream from your website. You keep 100% of the revenue, and you also have the fulfilling feeling of owning something. Here are my steps to creating your very first product.
You’ll want to develop a decent reader base to your blog/website. Once you have them, begin to poll them with a form from Aweber, capturing their name and email address. When you’ve gotten plenty of questions, and a lot of people (make sure you’re staying in touch with them, answering random questions and giving them good content), you’ll want to take the main questions and develop a product out of them.
Once the product is done, sell it to the newly acquired list!

Probably YOU and your doubts! Well let me rid you of these by looking at each one in turn
I’m not clever enough to build my own business.
That might be the case, but is unlikely. Whilst it is not for everyone, if you set your mind to it, have an average level of intelligence and a desire to learn, you can definitely build an income from the Internet if you know how to do it.
I don’t have the time it takes
The answer here is “it depends”. If you are in a full time profession that demands 80 or more hours of your time each week, then you probably don’t. But that’s a minority of the population and even then some of those people make the time because they are so focussed on succeeding. For the rest of us, we can always find a few hours to our self each day. If you want something bad enough, there is almost ALWAYS enough time to make it happen.
I don’t have the money to invest in a new business
Working on an internet business is not like an off-line business. You don’t need premises, employees and you don’t need to carry stock. Starting a business online can be really cheap, particularly if you know the secrets of keeping your investment to an absolute minimum. What if I told you you could start for less than $100, now that’s not a fortune is it? Believe me this is all the level of investment you need to get going and I will show you how.
I’m not an expert at anything.
You don’t have to be and this is the beauty of the Internet. I have a website on Horseback Riding(www.anyhorsebackriding.com) and whilst I love horses and ride a lot and have read masses of books on the subject, I would never be so presumptuous as to call myself an expert. I think I know more than most, but the important thing here is that I have put myself and my passion into the site. You can do the same with your passion. If you don’t have a passion, then you can choose any other topic under the sun to promote – believe me whatever it is you will find people who want it.
I have nothing to sell.
Another great beauty of the Internet. You don’t need anything of your own to get going. You can start by promoting existing products and services of others in the niche that interests you. You are then acting as an affiliate, earning commission by selling somebody else’s products or services. For example, if you were a lover of horses, you could earn money by selling my Horseback Riding products, just by going to www.anyhorsebackriding.com and clicking on the affiliate link at the bottom of the page. This would earn you a handsome 50% commission on everything you sell. You could do the same with my Dog Obedience site, or the one I have on self improvement. Affiliate Marketing opportunities are to be found everywhere
There are others already competing in the niche that interests me
That’s undoubtedly true, but it is rare to find a product or service that is completely new. If you look at it another way, if the product/service is already being promoted it has tp be a successful idea, and something worth pursuing otherwise others would not be doing it in the first place.
The only people making money are those telling others how to do it
This is just not true. Sure there are plenty who do make a living out of coaching others and so they should. Knowledge and experience come at a price. But there are plenty who earn substantial income by applying proven processes and who don’t say a word to others. They put their head down, focus on what they are doing and bring in regular and sizeable income. There is a lot of hype on the Internet and many “get rich quick” schemes, so you need to avoid these and follow the advice of those who have made a success and earn their living from Internet Marketing.
I’ve tried plenty of business opportunities with no success
That’s as maybe, but the Internet offers you an opportunity that you cannot find elsewhere. Did you know that less than 10% of the world’s population are online at the moment – yes under 10%. Even so that’s a staggering 729 million people – now where else will you find a market that size to sell your products and services to? Don’t you think the odds are rather stacked in your favour?
There’s no time like the present to kick start your Internet Marketing opportunities, so whatever you do, get yourself a coach, ditch procrastination and start working smarter right away and start making money on the Internet real fast right now!

Link popularity is a measure of your website’s popularity based
on the number of links to your website. That is perhaps the
simplest explanation possible.
But why is the measuring of inbound links important? Well, even
the best designed website isn’t worth much when no one is
visiting… So, after building a website it is important it
appear high in search engine rankings. The most popular search
engines use link popularity in their ranking algorithms (how
sites are evaluated). Improving link popularity moves sites up
in the ranking and a high position in search results is the goal
of most webmasters.
Link Popularity - In the Beginning
As always, you should start increasing your link popularity from
the moment you begin preparing the site itself. Make sure your
pages look professional. Your site’s content should be well
prepared and navigation thorough the site must be as easy as
possible.
Carefully check for spelling errors, validate HTML code and
outbound links, be sure your pages load quickly. People won’t
wait more than 3 for 4 seconds to see your page.
If you don’t pay careful attention to all the details of your
site you just won’t have a chance to score above average link
popularity. Search engines down grade sites with many misspelled
words and broken hyperlinks.
If you submit a carelessly constructed web site to a web
directory you will find that your site is soon removed from the
directory.
Lind Popularity - A Never-Ending Story
Increasing link popularity is a full-time job. Just after
starting your site spend a set amount of time each week on link
building. The most important link you can have is a one way
link. That means you are not trading links to get links.
Reciprocal linking strategies have far less value than they once
did. Your time will be much better spent getting incoming, one
way links.
The most efficient ways to get one way links is by constantly
submitting articles to article directories and ezines. In most
cases you are allowed to put one to three links into each of
your articles. If your articles are well written they will be
widely distributed. That means you will be building scores of
one way links.
Patience, patience and even more patience are the most important
part in building link popularity.
Link Popularity - No Link Farms
There are some sites that you just don’t want linking to your
site, so be sure you don’t ask for links from them, or accept
their offer to trade links. Link farms are link poison. They
exist only for linking. They add no value to the internet.
Search engines hate them. Never submit your site to a link farm.
Never accept an offer to exchange links with a gambling. They
will kill your chances for link popularity.
Finally… the very best link is one that comes from a site
whose theme is related to yours. A link from a health site to
your health site, a link from a sports site to your sports
site… those are top quality links. Those are called “relevant
links”, they are the highest quality links and will go a long
way to building your link popularity.
Keep thinking linking!
