Recently I made a mistake that may cost a great deal of traffic to my new web site.
Let me explain…
I studied so many books about Internet marketing over the last couple of years that I decided to start a new web site, and share my knowladge and experience with other fellow Internet marketers.
Since I read lots of information about search engine optimization (SEO), I intended to optimize all of my web pages for search engines from the beginning on, expecting Google to be my number one source of traffic in the near future.
I did an extensive keyword research using WordTraker, made a blueprint for my product and article pages, and the time has come to choose a great domain name for my new project.
I went to GoDaddy, the famous domain name registar, tried this and that, and finally came up with a beautiful domain name related to Internet marketing - netmarketingstrategies.com
You probably know that Internet marketing is a very competitive niche, so I was glad that this domain name was still available. I registered it immediately.
My site was up and running in 48 hours. Now I needed some fresh web content, and to get indexed by major search engines as soon as possible.
So, I spent a week or two writing search engine optimized content for my new online business.
I usually don’t submit my new web sites to search engines for indexing. I prefer when my sites are found on other web sites and get spidered automatically.
One of the easiest ways to have a link to a web site from other sites is by writing and distributing high quality articles. So, I wrote an article about two-tier affiliate programs and submited it to major article directories.
Within a couple of days I searched for my article title in Google and noticed that it did great. Publishers liked my article and they were publishing it on their web sites and newsletters.
I expected my home page to get indexed very fast.
Time went.
Each week I searched Google to see if my site has already got indexed. It didn’t.
I decided to see if my domain has been spidered by other major search engines. Yes, both Yahoo and MSN got it. So, what went wrong? Why Google won’t index my home page?
Here’s what I think went wrong: my further investigation showed that the domain name had already been used by another webmaster and had been expired half a year ago when I registered it. It seems that the previous domain name owner was using unfair search engine optimization strategies and his web site was banned by Google.
I sent a request to Google explaining the situation and asking to lift the ban from my web site. I am not sure if they will listen and help me.
I am ready to register a new domain name in a few weeks time if I still cannot get my site indexed by Google.
So, don’t make the same mistake I did… If you intend to optimize your new web site in order to receive traffic from Google and other search engines, make sure to check out if a domain name you’ve selected for your online business is not banned by Google before registering it.

Can one domain make a difference? Issues like homelessness, politics, war, and inequality seem so huge that it’s easy to feel powerless. That helpless feeling seems to depart, however, as soon as you visit Grassroots.org; you discover that you not only have the power to be a solution to the world’s problems, but you have the opportunity to stand up for the causes of a better world. Read on to learn what Grassroots.org is up to and how they are helping build a better world one domain at a time.
Not only can a domain have a direct impact on the world, but it also sends a message to others by inspiring them to take action that creates opportunities for positive social change on a local and global level. Who better to illustrate how much a domain can impact the world than Michael Mann, who in 2002 started Grassroots.org, a provider of free Internet and business services, i.e. domain names, hosting, email and consulting, to qualified charities.
Michael Mann and Grassroots.org is planning on changing the world slowly but surely by getting critical social facts to people throughout the world thanks to their 600+ domain names. They have a unique vision and understanding that the Internet has the power to make the world a safer, happier, healthier place by using advanced business and communications tools like domain names, to gain leverage in spreading usable social information. This strategy seems to be working as their vast network of associated domain names are attracting loads of traffic and receiving positive visitor comments.
Michael Mann is the executive director and founder of Grassroots.org, a clearinghouse for the best selection of domain names to build upon for humanitarian purposes to enable non-profits and everyday citizens to conduct their charitable activities online as efficiently as possible. In the past, he has turned his business efficiency and marketing expertise into a series of successful online companies, founding an Internet ISP in 1994 (later sold to Verio, Inc. in 1998) and currently residing as President of BuyDomains.com and Chairman of BrowserMedia.com. Over the last few years, Michael has been involved with charities for a number of organizations including working with the homeless, political action groups, and having the proud achievement of serving as a volunteer Chairman for a non-profit organization called Byte Back, which operates eight computer training centers serving the poor and unemployed in the inner-city.
As an expert in the domain industry, which is illustrated by his position as president of BuyDomains.com, Michael is supporting many causes by supplying 501c3 non-profit organizations an opportunity to co-develop on a selection of 600+ domain names to build upon for humanitarian purposes, including domains like Homeless.org, Relief.org, Addicted.org, Starvation.org and more. Michael’s actions at Grassroots.org is helping the world grow from the ground up, which in the Internet terms means using a domain name as the foundation for each cause. GrassRoots.org’s understanding of the power behind a highly brand-able domain name is evident in its strategy to improve the world’s current social, political, and economic problems.
A prime example of this power can be seen at EarthCare.org, a domain name that was supplied and co-developed by Grassroots.org. According to Grassroots.org, EarthCare’s domain name has been a key contributor to getting the group’s message heard: to educate and inspire youth to care for their communities and the Earth. Their web site is helping educate youth to create lifestyles that are beneficial to the natural environment by engaging them in programs that implement innovative environmental solutions. EarthCare.org, with the help of Grassroots.org, demonstrates that a domain name and web site have the power to communicate meaningful messages and information that are contributing towards building a better world.

It’s like a “Land Rush!”
As a real estate broker for years, I had always dreamed of having the perfect properties to sell ~ and at the right prices. I spent a small fortune attempting to attract sellers, acquiring licenses, recruiting competent agents, maintaining nice offices, and then ~ to bring in the buyers ~ on advertising.
After being forced to retire from real estate by MS (Multiple Sclerosis), I finally stumbled upon the easiest properties in the world to sell that I’d ever seen: “Domains” in “Cyberspace.” Actually, a respected friend, who had never been in real estate, turned me on to it. Best of all, it didn’t cost me anything to set up my new business.
Okay, after a week I invested $10.00, but I got a domain name property to sell if I ever decide to. Like a land rush, people all over the planet are scrambling to stake their claims on the cyber landscape. I get a picture of homesteaders, in covered wagons stirring up dust, rushing to stake their claims for 160 acres. Everyone it seems wants their own website and once their personal names are gone, they can come up with other great domains, properties which will only appreciate ~ just like real estate.
I guess, some of us have to have been in other businesses to appreciate how really good a business that offering website domains is. Like in any legitimate enterprise, a good business owner should do everything that is possible to see that their customers are satisfied with the product. I can even let my buyers “Move in” for seven days Free to see if they like their new property. I could never do that in the real estate business.
No wonder that customers want to buy up some more “Cyberproperties.” It’s like a land rush except the homesteaders can stake their claims all over the world without leaving their computers. Yes! This technique is that simple AND powerful! And it’s called: Expired Domain Traffic.
If you did not hear of this method, I am going to show you here a step-by-step procedure to use it to increase the traffic to your websites and affiliate programs. In the case you know about technique, you find this article useful because it will show you a complete different view and allow you benefit from expired traffic in a more effective way you never thought possible before!
Let’s start immediately then with crucial facts you must know about:
Fact #1:
Every day +1000 of domains are forfeited by their owners who fail to renew or pay for the registration fees on their expiring domains.
This creates an incredible, yet little-known opportunity for you to own a domain that may have been registered as long as 3 or 4 years ago! Here are the current statistics:
Domains registered: 36,645,520
Domains deleted: 23,432,480
Fact #2:
4% of the total forfeited domain names are actually available after long years of promotion!
If you are the one to register it, you will get a popular domain name that still drive targeted traffic due to the huge link popularity it has. In other words, you benefit from thousands of dollars and years of marketing promotion for you instantly!
Fact #3:
There are still plenty of excellent domain names out there! You will soon discover that all the best domain names are NOT registered …yet!
Prepare to be amazed!
“But What is the Expired Domain Traffic?”, I hear you say. I’m glad you asked.
The technique is to register domain names with existing traffic and link popularity and point them to your own websites. Resulting on an immediate targeted traffic boost, link popularity increase and additional advertising for almost nothing. It is that simple!
Now I think you realize the HUGE power of this technique.
With that said, let’s go further. Unlike all the WhoIs websites out there, you should not register any available domain name out there and hope it will bring traffic to you.
No!
You need to register only highly valuable domain names. In other words, you have to locate the domain names with existing targeted traffic and popularity first. “This sounds great!”, you’re probably thinking. But, how can you do that? Some work involved. Lots of profit potential.
With this crucial precaution in mind, we can start the process of redirecting targeted traffic to your own websites…
How to Locate Such Valuable Domain Names?
All you have to do is follow these simple 5-steps instructions:
Step #1. Compile a list of keywords:
You have to make a list of key phrases (not keywords!) related to your business. Each key phrase could contain 2 up to 3 keywords. I suggest you make different combinations for every key phrase. For example, let’s assume you want “cooking” and “book” as keywords. Then you should include the following domain names:
“cookingbook.com”, “cookingbooks.com” and “bookcooking.com”.
You can even add different top level names:
“cookingbook.net”, “cookingbook.biz” or “cookingbook.co.uk”.
You can also use dashes (hyphens) in your domain names.
You probably heard some voices that will tell you to avoid them. But I think that it is useful for multiple domain names like we are looking for. Because dashes separate important keywords making it more easier for search engines to index your web page. However, I agree that you should not use a hyphenated domain as your primary domain.
In our example, you can include: “cooking-books.com”.
Step #2. Browse the WhoIs database for relevant domain names:
Now that you have created the domain names list, it’s time to start the search! You need to browse the WhoIs online database. The directory of registered and available domain names. There are plenty of these websites on the Net. Just check out the Google results for “whois search”.
I have listed some below to save you time searching. While surfing the Internet, you can do more research on your own:
http://www.allwhois.com
http://www.coolwhois.com
http://www.whois.net
whois.enom.com
Type in the domain together with the extension (.com or .net) for each domain names in your list. And report the available domain names in another list. You may call it: the Domain Selection List. You can also visit the deleted domains website. Here is the link:
http://www.deleteddomains.com
The automatic search engine is worth the try.
Step #3. Select the most valuable domain names:
Before you go registering all the available domain names in your “Selection List”. You need to pick out the most valuable ones.
Just point your web browser to http://www.google.com and use the “link:” operator to check out the popularity of a domain name. For example, search Google for “link:www.cookingbook.com“
The result is a list of the pages that link to the that domain.
The results page will tell you how many website are still linking to that domain name. Pick out those with the greater link popularity. And repeat this task for all the domain names in your “Selection List”. Upon completing the process, you should find a wealth of optimized and valuable domain names!
Step #4. Register them!
You will need to register the domain names in order to point their traffic to your primary website. The registration process locks your domain name so that no one else can take it.
There are plenty of registration services online. You can search Google for “domain name registrar” or you can simply use the one you are familiar with.
Step #5. Redirect them!
Here is where the fun begins. All you have to do is redirect the existing traffic to your own website. And see your website hits stats soar!
Please note that we are talking about targeted traffic not any prospects out there. Because we have already selected domain names for your specific keywords. During step #1. Remember?
So you can do that, if you just place a redirection page that points to your official website into your “fresh” domain name!
Enjoy!
In closing… There you have it; 5 steps to unleash the power of expired domain traffic to your website.
Of course there’s an automated, faster and powerful strategy to grab those valuable domain names. I will cover this strategy in detail in my website. I highly recommend you review it as soon as possible. See you there!
