The Future of Inheritance Cycle
April 5th, 2008
The third book of the Inheritance Cycle, Brisingr, will be published on September 20th 2008. The fourth book is still unnamed.
The series was drafted as a trilogy, but in 2007 Paolini announced that it would have four books instead. According to him, Brisingr would have grown too large otherwise. The series was also renamed Inheritance Cycle from Inheritance Trilogy.
The word ‘brisingr’ means ‘fire’ in the ancient language of the elves and has been borrowed from old Norse language. It was the first word of magic that Eragon learned from his mentor Brom in the first novel.
A spoiler for Brisingr has also been released.
